Wow….I was extremely impressed with the creativity that was produced for the Art Homework Projects. The students all put so much effort into their projects and were very proud of what they created. They thoroughly enjoyed sharing them to the rest of the class by explaining the processes they went through to make their art piece.

For a writing competition that the room 4 students have entered the students were asked to ‘tell us who your role model is and why you look up to them?’ and this is what some of them wrote…..
My role model is Izrael Dagg because he co-cooperated with his team. He self manages himself well because he wouldn’t be an All Black if he didn’t try hard enough. He encourages his team mates to play hard, have a good game and stand tall and that is why Izrael Dagg inspires me. He is also caring because he gives up his time to go and visit sick kids. By Maika Determination, perseverance, and courage is everything my role model Des Hunt demonstrate. He dedicates himself to making astonishing books. He eagerly strives to succeed while showing citizenship and inspired work and setting accurate choices. His work blows me away and when I read this books it’s like I have a golden glow inside of me. By Zion My role model is my brother Kade because he inspires me to follow my dreams and try my best at everything. He sets amazing examples by being a wonderful leader, encouraging others and he is dedicated to everything he does. He is a real mentor to me. By Stella Dan Carter is my role model because he inspires me to follow my dream of becoming an All Black and being a good rugby player. He shows good leadership skills and citizenship and sets a good example for others to follow. By Trident My role model is David Attenborough. He inspires me because he has a passion for animals. He has guided me through the animal kingdom. He is great because he is loyal, trustworthy and reliable. David Attenborough enjoys sharing his incredible knowledge about animals with the world. He is so caring and has created amazing animal TV documentaries. By Georgia My role model is Mrs Hetherington because she always inspires me to not only work hard but play hard too. She also encourages and motivates other students in the class to do their best. Mrs Hetherington is always kind, honest and respects us. By Heidi In room 4 we have been creating daffodil art to raise awareness for all those kids who are suffering from cancer and other diseases. The daffodil artwork represents spring with all of its warm colours like oranges, yellows and cream. We made our art three-D and made it pop out for effect. We made paper vases and underneath the beautiful flowers we put bright green collaged stems that go all the way into the vase.
Monday afternoon proved to be the perfect afternoon for our school cross country race. Parents turned out to support their children as they give it their all in their running race. There were lots of ecstatic children as they crossed the finish line because they knew they had trained hard for the event and had shown determination and courage to do their very best in their race. We wish all of the students from Tairua Primary School who are off to the Thames Valley interschool cross country race in Whitianga today the very best. This morning Room 4 and Room 5 students were lucky enough to visit the Tairua Library and be inspired by author ‘Dreydon Sobanja’ who talked to us about the two books he had written called “Jean dreams of flying and Ed climbs a big hill”. Dreydon shared his knowledge about following your dreams and the students talked about attributes needed to achieve your dreams like, determination, commitment, perseverance, courage, believing, co-operation, dedication, passion, motivation, fun, and experience. Bryony and Zion were asked to read out some pages of his books to the rest of us. After the discussion the students had the opportunity to record their dreams on pieces of paper.
Our main focus for this term will be co-operative group work. In groups students will have to select a country and study certain aspects of that country and the importance and purpose of them e.g. history, flag, food, customs, clothing, traditions, culture, landmarks, location, artwork, celebrations, famous people, and capital city etc. They will then share and present their knowledge with the class in an effective way. Later in the term we will invite parents/caregivers to come and join us for a “countries day” where each group will share some of their countries food, costumes, dance and artwork.
The students have chosen the countries they are going to study and they are: Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, France, Greece and Italy. Wow....check out our new Bag Bay that is situated outside our classroom. This has freed up a lot of space inside our classroom which allows the students more room for learning and a new computer area...Ye Ha!!
A big thank you to the Board of Trustees for allowing this to happen. Here are the finished Garden Sculptures that the students from Room 4 have created. I am so very proud of the huge amount of hard work and effort they put into designing and making their Garden Sculptures. Well done!! Today the students from room four started creating their Garden Sculpture. I was so very proud of the way they worked together to problem solve, create and make their designs. Everyone showed flair and talent by working patiently to design a piece of garden art that suited them and their style. Come back and look at the finished creations soon........................
Each group entered the Marine wonder world through the draped over classroom door. First we were shown Harriett’s awesome movie about the bottle nosed dolphins. After it was finished we went and searched around the room which had swirly blue strands hanging from the roof. We went around the corner and discovered more fascinating projects. We answered all the questions and went to the next project. We crept into the pitch black cave and were met by a couple of people who were going to show us their very interesting projects. We came out and finished answering the rest of the questions. When we got to the end we gave our answers to Usheni and went over to Ahi and Vita at the table beside the back door. We wrote our names neatly with pen on a piece of paper and wrote a word to describe the whole experience in the Room Five Marine Reserve. We went back to Usheni. Yay! We got all the answers right. |
