In room 4 we have been creating daffodil art to raise awareness for all those kids who are suffering from cancer and other diseases. The daffodil artwork represents spring with all of its warm colours like oranges, yellows and cream. We made our art three-D and made it pop out for effect. We made paper vases and underneath the beautiful flowers we put bright green collaged stems that go all the way into the vase.

Monday afternoon proved to be the perfect afternoon for our school cross country race. Parents turned out to support their children as they give it their all in their running race. There were lots of ecstatic children as they crossed the finish line because they knew they had trained hard for the event and had shown determination and courage to do their very best in their race. We wish all of the students from Tairua Primary School who are off to the Thames Valley interschool cross country race in Whitianga today the very best. This morning Room 4 and Room 5 students were lucky enough to visit the Tairua Library and be inspired by author ‘Dreydon Sobanja’ who talked to us about the two books he had written called “Jean dreams of flying and Ed climbs a big hill”. Dreydon shared his knowledge about following your dreams and the students talked about attributes needed to achieve your dreams like, determination, commitment, perseverance, courage, believing, co-operation, dedication, passion, motivation, fun, and experience. Bryony and Zion were asked to read out some pages of his books to the rest of us. After the discussion the students had the opportunity to record their dreams on pieces of paper.
