Luke’s family has two lambs they are looking after for a while. The lambs mothers were killed and the farmer needed someone to feed the lambs so the Goodman family offered to take care of them. On Monday the 2nd of September, Andie (Luke’s Mum) brought Charlie and Roughy in to school so we could meet them and see them being fed. We have been emailing Andie with our questions and Luke has been teaching us how to look after the lambs and bringing photos to share with us. It was great to meet the lambs and we can’t wait to see them on pet day- we know they will be really big and strong by then! Thank you Andie, Luke and Oscar for bringing the lambs to visit us.
It’s spring time now and on Friday we decided to do some daffodil artwork. We looked closely at some living daffodils and also some pictures we found on the internet. We looked at the different flower shapes and colours and then created our own artwork. We made daffodils by painting a flower shape and a piece of an egg carton, used crayon to make the leaves and then we dyed the background so it looked like the sky and the soil. Once our artwork was dry we could add bark to the garden area and soft cotton wool to the sky to make clouds. We still have some bits to finish off but pop in during the next week to see them all finished. Artwork by Tara Bourne. On Thursday of Week 3, the children in Room 1 went to visit the Tairua Marina construction site. We wore bright clothes, bike helmets and covered shoes to keep us safe on the building site. Alan, the site manager, showed us around and talked to us about what they are doing. We looked at the model and took lots of photos of the machines and the site. We had a great morning and a big thank you to the Mum’s who came with us. Once we got back to school, we created some really cool machinery artwork. Come in to Room 1 to check it out.
