AIR TIMES Tuesday 7.45am Show repeats Tuesdays at 1.10pm So tune in to 97.9 FM, to hear our latest show. You can also keep an eye on this blog site and shows will be attached periodically. Room 5 travelled north up to Leigh/Whangaparoa to investigate the marine environment and participate in all sorts of water activities. Click on our slideshow for a run down on our 4 day trip. What a blast!
Room 5 have spent a term honing their swimming skills and increasing their stamina ready to compete at the Tairua School Swimming Sports. Those with outstanding ability went on to compete at the W. H. O.T Inter-school Swimming Sports. Here's a look at our free styling, breast stroking, back stroking, butterfly experiences, pool side... Celebrating Sea Week at Tairua North Beach. We investigated the rocky shore, played beach games, created a giant octopus sand sculpture and scoured the beach for litter pick up.
Year 8 students from Room 5 participated in the Looking2Lead course. This course assists students to identify their personal leadership style and how they can contribute to their school. We joined up with Year 8's from Hikuai School and made a real day of it! After the course we reflected on all the skills we had learnt over fish & chips at Hot Water Beach. Then we dug ourselves a well deserved hot water hole and spotted a pod of dolphins. One small step for young leaders, one giant leap for our community. Room 5 were avid participants of this event to raise money and awareness for Surf aid. All proceeds this year go toward building a school for a community in the Malawai Islands. Students use their logbooks to keep up with their school work commitments and all their extra curricular activities. This is just one way, Room 5 students demonstrate they are good self managers.
To identify their own logbook amongst the class, students designed unique covers focussing on patterns, colour schemes and layout. |
