Flying objects
We investigated flying. We watched videos on how things fly and what makes things go up. The children soon realised that wind plays an important part in flight. We made kites and then had a choice to make any flying objects we liked; a lot of people chose to make darts, some people made a different kite and some others made lanterns. We had to make an object that would fly for more than 5 metres.
It was an exciting day the day we all had made our objects. First we let the dart makers throw their darts, Quintin was the convincing winner. Then the kite flyers let fly with their kites, all of them were successful, with Cameron reaching the greatest heights. We then got the people with lanterns to light their candles but disaster struck they caught lit and nothing flew. But all in all it was a lot of fun and the children learnt a little bit about aerodynamics.
