Wow! What a show. After studying the book "I'm the King of the Mountain" by Joy Cowley for several weeks, Room 2 decided it would be a great idea to create a play based on the book. The students lead the charge with this performance and they did their school proud. They created their costumes and stage, wrote invitations for family to come watch and they put their heart and soul into their character. A variety of learning outcomes were achieved from performing this play, but the most significant was the students understanding that texts are written and read for an audience. This is such an important aspect in a child's learning because they are developing the concept that books have a purpose.
